2008 Forest City Chamber of Commerce Accomplishments

Continuing “Shop Local, Why Go Anywhere Else” campaign in print and radio ads
Continued use of the Forest City street map intended to be used as a guide for people stopping in asking for directions.
Continued success with Puckerbrush Celebration, as well as continue to increase attendance at attractions and events.
Developed partnerships with High School Organizations including FFA and Sports Boosters.
Improved events in 2008 that will be done again in 2009 such as Frontier Day and Destination Forest City events.
Grow Forest City Branding Project: researched, facilitated informational meetings and secured funding.
Operated in the black for the year and continue to maintain a reserve account.
Continued involvement in Central Iowa Tourism Region, and Top of Iowa Tourism as vice-chair of this committee.
Updating Media Cubes, the touch screen displayers at the WIT Visitors Center and the Top of Iowa Welcome Center in Northwood.
Secured additional funding for the road widening/paving project on 340th St, between Pilot Knob State Park and Bear Creek Golf Course.
Opened ICAP office from Iowa Workforce Development - the first one in the State of Iowa .
