Forest City Dollars for Education

Nicole Lovik-Blaser

Dollars for Education is a non-profit organization with a main purpose to provide scholarships for Forest City graduates planning to attend college. Originally, Dollars for Education was two separate entities: Dollars for Scholars and the Forest City Education Foundation. In March of 2008, the two groups merged to serve a common purpose of providing educational opportunities to Forest City students and graduates

Forest City Leadership Club

Habitat for Humanity - Forest City

The local Habitat for Humanity completed a Habitat home in 2001 on John K. Hanson Drive and work will begin on a second home soon (Spring-Summer 2004) at 725 S. Seventh St. in Forest City. Habitat for Humanity volunteers work with a partner family to build simple, decent, affordable housing. The partner family contributes significant "sweat equity" and then BUYS the home, making regular monthly mortgage payments. Mortgage payments are affordable because no interest is charged and the price reflects primarily the cost of materials. The Forest City group is a "covenant community" operating as part of the five-county affiliate, Habitat for Humanity of North Central Iowa. Anyone interested in volunteering, donating, or applying for consideration as a future Habitat homeowner can contact:

The Habitat for Humanity office in Mason City can be reached at (641) 424-8978 or www.habitatnci.org.
